Centralizer Stop Collars
A Centralizer Stop Collar is a device utilized in the cementing process to prevent the displacement or slippage of centralizers or cement baskets on a casing. It goes by various names, such as position ring, stop circular, brake ring, etc. There are three main types of Centralizer Stop Collars: mobile screw-type, fixed screw-type, and buckle-type.
The fundamental role of the Centralizer Stop Collar is to restrict the axial movement of centralizers or cement baskets on the casing. By limiting their movement, it ensures accurate placement and alignment during the cementing process.
To install the mobile screw-type stop collar, you need to slide it over the casing and securely tighten the screws using a wrench.
The fixed screw-type stop collar is installed by placing it around the casing, inserting the screws into their designated holes, and tapping them into place with a hammer.
For the buckle-type stop collar, it is fastened onto the casing by buckling it in place and securing it with pins. Any screws are then tapped into their designated positions using a hammer.
